Position Description

This person will provide professional quality hair services for guests, including hair cuts, color, perms, shampooing, facials, waxing, body wraps, manicures and pedicures. We are looking for someone who has an awareness of the importance of intention in their work on a daily basis and has excellent knowledge of the hair and scalp. This person takes care of his/her own hair care and well-being and believes learning never ends. He/she is committed to continuing advanced education, both as provided by us and self-study. This person should be willing to perform most of the services listed in our Menu and commits to keeping updated on how to do each service with consistency. For the concern of our client and the longevity of our staff this is a non smoking salon.

Job duties include:

• Provides professional, quality hair treatments and services for salon guests.
• Willing to perform various hair services listed in our Menu and is committed to learning how to perform each service and/or treatment with consistency.
• Incorporates retail sales into services.
• Commits to the various Aveda rituals provided to guests during their visit at Avenue Hair.
• Maintains extensive knowledge of Aveda products. (Training is available for applicants with no previous experience with Aveda products.)
• Participates in regularly scheduled salon meetings and cross-training opportunities.
• Participates in Aveda Advanced Trainings and shows and implements practices that are taught.
• Other duties as assigned and/or required.

Responsibilities & Other Information

• Reports to Salon Owner and/or management team
• Provides the appropriate amount of services per day.
• Interacts primarily with guests, involving the utmost in professionalism, ethics and confidentiality.
• Interacts with other team members and management, involving the utmost in professionalism and teamwork.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Graduate of an accredited cosmetology program.
• Certification:  Must have a current license, in the state of Oregon, for Hair Design, Barbering, Esthetics, and nails.
• Experience: Two years previous experience as a cosmetologist  in a commission salon or commission sales position.
• Excellent client service, communication and organization skills.
• Self-motivated.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and some minor holidays.
• Flexibility to be cross-trained in other Spa functions/services.
• Established clientele a big plus.
